TODAY: The Potomac Nationals play game two of a three-game series against the Kinston Indians from Historic Grainger Stadium. The middle game begins at 7:00 p.m. with the P-Nats needing some help if they plan on defending their Mills Cup Championship. They now trail Wilmington by 3.0 games with only 9 more contests left on their schedule. The Rocks have won eight of their last 10 and split a doubleheader with Salem last night to gain another half game in the North Division.

*The Blue Rocks' Magic Number for the Second Half Division title is down to 7.*

TODAY'S OPPOSING STARTERS: LHP Chris Jones, 20, was the 15th round selection of the Cleveland Indians in the 2007 First-Year Player Draft out of Gaither High School in Tampa, Florida. The southpaw made just two appearances in his first professional season in ‘07 but experienced some success in his sophomore campaign with the GCL Indians. In 11 games (10 starts) last year, Jones went 3-4 with a 3.10 ERA and held Gulf Coast League batters to just a .229 batting average against in the summer of 2008. The Florida native made the jump to the Low-A ranks at the start of the 2009 season and compiled a 5-3 record with a 4.07 ERA in 12 outings with the South Atlantic League Lake County Captains. As a starter with the Captains, Jones struck out 33 in 34.1 IP and his ERA was just 2.88 as opposed to the 6.00 mark he had in five relief appearances. One three occasions, Jones struck out as many as seven men in a game this year.

Jones was called up to Kinston on August 19th when K-Tribe outfielder Ryan Blair was promoted to Triple-A Columbus. He won his Carolina League debut against Myrtle Beach on August 19 tossing 6.0 innings while striking out seven and walking just one in the Indian's 3-0 victory over the Pelicans. Five days later against Frederick, Jones still had the strikeout pitch working for him as he fanned eight Keys in just four innings but he also allowed two homers and four runs in a no-decision.
