
P.K. Subban Named to Canadian World Junior Roster

Belleville Bulls defenceman P.K. Subban was one of 22 players named to Team Canada's roster for the 2009 World Junior Hockey Championship on Monday. Subban is one of four returning players from Canada's gold medal winning team from last year. The 2009 World Junior Hockey Championship is being held December 26 through January 5 in Ottawa.
Subban is in his fourth season in Belleville where he has recorded four goals and 33 assists in 29 games played. He also owns a team best +27 rating while recording 40 penalty minutes. The Rexdale, Ontario native has led the Bulls in defenceman scoring the past two seasons including 47 points in a 58 games played last year. Subban was selected by the Montreal Canadiens in the second round of the 2007 NHL Entry Draft following his sophomore season in Belleville. Subban joins Eric Tangradi and Philipp Grubauer as the third Bull representing his country at the 2009 World Junior Hockey Championship.
Canada will play two pre-tournament games on December 19 and 23 against Sweden and Slovakia before opening the preliminary round of the 2009 World Junior Hockey Championship against the Czech Republic on December 26. Canada will also face Kazakhstan, Germany, and the United States in preliminary round competition. All of Team Canada's games are being shown live on TSN.
