The Providence Bruins announced today that they have signed goaltender Matt Underhill to a professional tryout agreement, and have released goaltender Cody Rudkowsky from his tryout contract. Underhill was 13-8-3 with a 2.65 GAA, .923 save percentage and three shutouts in 24 games with the Mississippi Sea Wolves (ECHL). He has also played in one AHL game this season with the St. John's Maple Leafs, stopping all 17 shots he faced in regulation before taking a loss in a shootout. Rudkowsky was 4-7-2 with a 3.20 GAA and .898 save percentage in 14 games with the Bruins.

Underhill, a 25-year-old native of Campbell River, British Columbia, is playing in his third professional season out of Cornell University (ECAC). He began his professional career in 2002-03, posting a 3-3-1 record with a 3.08 GAA in seven games with Providence, and a 16-13-2 record and 2.81 GAA in 33 games with the Pee Dee Pride (ECHL). He made his NHL debut last season with the Chicago Blackhawks, posting an 0-1-0 record with a 4.00 GAA in one game. Underhill, who is 6'2", 225 pounds, has a career record of 5-5-2 with a 2.76 GAA and .906 save percentage in 13 AHL games with the Bruins, Manchester, Norfolk and St. John's. He is 44-40-11 with a 2.97 GAA and .908 save percentage in 100 games in the NHL, AHL and ECHL.

Bruin center Keith Aucoin has been on a hot streak lately, matching his career-best point streak of six games (2-5-7), set earlier this season. The 26-year-old native of Chelmsford, Massachusetts had 5-7-12 totals over a six-game stretch from December 17 through December 31. He also has points (6-10-16) in 11 of his last 12 games. Aucoin ranks fourth on the team with 15-30-45 totals in 49 games after signing with the Bruins on November 4. He was the Bruins' leading scorer for the 2002-03 season, posting 25-49-74 totals in 78 games.

The Bruins play four games this week, all against Atlantic Division rivals on home ice at the Dunkin' Donuts Center Providence. The action begins on Wednesday, February 23 at 7:05 p.m. against the Lowell Lock Monsters. The Bruins face off with the Portland Pirates on Friday and Saturday at 7:05 p.m., and the Manchester Monarchs on Sunday at 4:05 p.m. Please note that fans holding tickets for the Bruins-Portland game on January 23 can use those tickets for the game on Saturday.
