P-Bruins Prepare for Three-Game Week

The Providence Bruins earned four of a possible six points this past weekend picking up victories over the Bridgeport Sound Tigers and the Springfield Falcons. Friday night, the P-Bruins defeated the Sound Tigers 4-1 scoring four different ways (even strength, power play, shorthanded, empty net), while earning the franchise its 500th all-time victory. Saturday in Springfield, Providence played from behind all evening before Ben Walter tied the game at three with 29 seconds left in regulation. Zdenek Blatny scored in the shootout, while Andrew Raycroft, with Providence on a conditioning assignment, stopped all five shooters in the shootout as the P-Bruins went on to a 4-3 shootout victory. The P-Bruins dropped their final game of the weekend 5-3 to the Philadelphia Phantoms to snap a ten game home winning streak. With the two wins the P-Bruins are 25-18-1-1, 52 points, on the season and in fourth place in the Atlantic Division, seven points behind the third place Hartford Wolf Pack with three games in hand.

Eric Healey continues to lead the P-Bruins in scoring with 44 points (21g, 23a). Wednesday, in Manitoba at the 2006 Rbk Hockey AHL All-Star Classic Healey had two points including a goal in the second period. Earlier this season, Healey was named captain of Team Planet/USA. Nathan Robinson is second on the team in scoring with 40 points (20g, 20a). Rookie Tyler Redenbach remains third on the team in scoring with 31 points (11g, 20a). He also leads the team in plus/minus at +14 and is third among rookies in the same category. Ben Guite is fourth on the team in scoring with 30 points (14g, 16a) and leads the P-Bruins in power play goals with seven. He was returned on loan from the Boston Bruins Wednesday after making his NHL debut Monday night at the Ottawa Senators. Ben Walter rounds out the top five on the team in scoring with 26 points (9g, 17a). He had goals in two of last weekend's games after being returned on loan from Boston where he saw five games of action.

The Bruins return home to the Dunkin' Donuts Center Friday, February 3 against the Albany River Rats at 7:05 p.m., before hitting the road Saturday, February 4 to take on the Sound Tigers at 7:05 p.m. The P-Bruins will also be home at the Dunkin' Donuts Center next weekend, Sunday, February 5 to host the Lowell Lock Monsters at 2:05 p.m.
