
P-Bruins Fall To Devils 5-2

Providence, RI - The Providence Bruins fell to the Lowell Devils 5-2 Sunday afternoon at the Dunkin' Donuts Center, but remain in first place in the Atlantic Division. The P-Bruins got their goals from Wacey Rabbit and Jeff Penner. The first place P-Bruins are back at home at the Dunkin' Donuts Center Friday, January 16 versus the Portland Pirates at 7:05 p.m. for Dunkin' Donuts Mug Night.
The P-Bruins took the 1-0 lead at the 9:46 mark of the opening period. Brad Marchand held the puck in the corner and sent it towards the front of the net where it was tipped by Jeremy Reich right to Rabbit. He was in the slot and scored his eighth goal of the season. Providence took a 1-0 advantage into the first intermission.
The Devils tied the game at one at the 1:05 mark of the second period. Petr Vrana netted his fifth goal of the season with Nicklas Bergfors and Olivier Magnan recording the assists. Lowell took its first lead of the game at the 10:59 mark. Patrick Davis tallied his eighth goal of the season, while Brad Mills had the lone assist. Providence tied the game at two at the 18:38 mark, while on the power play. Vladimir Sobotka grabbed the puck halfway up the boards and tossed it to Martin St. Pierre in the corner. He found Penner backdoor who netted his fifth goal of the season. Lowell took the lead into the second intermission scoring at the 19:37 mark. Barry Tallackson tallied his fifth goal of the season with Rod Pelley and Alexander Vasyunov grabbing the assists.
In the third period, Lowell took a two-goal advantage at the 15:13 mark. Michael Swift netted his fifth goal of the season, while Jon DiSalvatore and Mark Fraser picked up the assists. The Devils wrapped up the scoring with an empty net goal at the 18:45 mark. Matthew Corrente scored his fourth goal of the season with Fraser getting the lone assist. Lowell went on to the 5-2 victory.
Kevin Regan stopped 25 of 29 shots he faced for the P-Bruins, while Jeff Frazee made 33 saves for the Devils. The P-Bruins were 1-for-4 on the power play and 3-for-3 on the penalty kill.
