P-Bruins Fall to Devils 3-1

Providence, RI - The Providence Bruins fell to the Lowell Devils 3-1 Saturday evening at the Tsongas Arena. The P-Bruins got their lone goal from Pascal Pelletier. The 24-5-2 Atlantic Division leading P-Bruins are back in action Thursday at the Times Union Center against the Albany River Rats at 7:05 p.m. Providence remains nine points ahead of the second place Hartford Wolf Pack.

After a scoreless opening period, Lowell took a 1-0 lead at the 4:22 mark of the second period, while on the power play. While the P-Bruins tried to clear the zone Patrick Davis picked up the puck and scored off a shot from the high slot for his fourth goal of the season. It was an unassisted goal. Providence tied the game at one, while on the power play at the 6:51 mark. Halfway up the left boards, Martins Karsums sent the puck into the corner for David Krejci. He skated in towards the left post before sending the puck to the other side of the net where Pelletier awaited. With Devils goaltender Frank Doyle on the wrong side of the net Pelletier tallied his 17th goal of the season. Lowell took a 2-1 lead into the second intermission after scoring their second power play goal of the evening at the 13:38 mark. Noah Clarke took a shot from the right face off circle and the rebound came to Stephen Gionta, who scored his tenth goal of the season. Grant Marshall had the second assist.

In the third period, the Devils Petr Vrana scored an unassisted empty net goal with one second left as Lowell went on to the 3-1 victory.

Tuukka Rask stopped 18 of 20 shots for the P-Bruins, while Doyle made 38 saves for the Devils. The P-Bruins were 1-for-4 on the power play and 3-for-6 on the penalty kill.

The Atlantic Division-leading P-Bruins return to the Dunkin' Donuts Center for Family Games Friday, January 11 versus the Worcester Sharks at 7:05 p.m. and Sunday, January 13 versus the Springfield Falcons at 4:05 p.m. Information on P-Bruins individual tickets for the 2007-08 regular season can be obtained by calling the team ticket office at (401) 273-5000 or by logging onto the team website at providencebruins.com.
