P-Bruins Fall To Bears 5-2

Providence, RI - The Providence Bruins fell to the Hershey Bears 5-2 Monday afternoon at the Dunkin' Donuts Center. The P-Bruins got their goals from Brad Marchand and Mikko Lehtonen. The Bears won the best of seven series 4 games to 1.

After a scoreless opening period, the Bears took a 1-0 lead at the 2:17 mark of the second period, while on a 5-on-3 power play. Andrew Gordon tallied his fifth goal of the playoffs, with Alexandre Giroux and Chris Bourque recording the assists. Providence tied the game at one at the 4:45 mark, while on the power play. Jeff Penner shot the puck around the boards to Peter Schaefer behind the net. He skated out to the right face off circle and passed the puck backdoor to Marchand, who netted his seventh goal of the post-season. Hershey retook the lead at the 16:20 mark, while on the power play. Giroux scored his ninth goal of the playoffs, with Bourque and Bryan Helmer picking up the assists. Hershey went into the second intermission leading 2-1.

The P-Bruins tied the game at two at the 1:57 mark of the third period. Andrew Bodnarchuk dropped the puck off for Jeremy Reich at the blue line. Reich passed the puck off to Lehtonen, who scored from the left face off circle. It was Lehtonen's second goal of the playoffs. Hershey retook the lead at the 6:46 mark, while shorthanded. Bourque scored unassisted, his fourth goal of the post-season. The Bears took a two goal advantage at the 10:19 mark. Darren Reid netted his third goal of the playoffs, while Dean Arsene and Quintin Laing had the lone assist. The Bears finished off the scoring with an empty net goal at the 19:03 mark. Laing grabbed his first goal of the playoffs, while Tyler Sloan had the lone assist. Hershey went on to the 5-2 victory.

Tuukka Rask stopped 33 of 37 shots for the P-Bruins, while Michal Neuvirth made 27 saves for the Bears.  The P-Bruins were 1-for-5 on the power play and 3-for-5 on the penalty kill.
