
P-Bruins Fall In Shootout 3-2

Providence, RI - The Providence Bruins fell in a shootout to the Lowell Devils 3-2 Sunday afternoon in front of 8,378 fans at the Dunkin' Donuts Center. The P-Bruins got their goals from Jordan Knackstedt and Jamie Arniel. The P-Bruins return home to the Dunkin' Donuts Center Friday at 7:05 p.m. for St. Patty's T-Shirt Night against the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins.
The P-Bruins took a 1-0 advantage at the 10:59 mark of the opening period. John Lammers carried the puck across the blue line and fed it to Zach Hamill. He sent the puck to the rightt face-off circle, where Knackstedt picked it up and skated towards the front of the net before scoring his 11th goal of the season. Providence led 1-0 going into the first intermission.
After a scoreless second period, the Devils tied the game at one at the 3:39 mark of the third period. Matt Halischuk tallied an unassisted goal, his eighth goal of the season. Lowell took its first lead of the game at the 4:42 mark. Patrick Davis netted his 14th goal of the season, while Matt Cohen and Rob Davison recorded the assists. Providence tied the game at two at the 13:42 mark, while on the power play. Trent Whitfield took a shot from the left point, which went around the boards to Jeff Penner. He found Arniel in the left-face-off circle, who scored his 12th goal of the season. The game went into overtime tied at two.
After a scoreless overtime, the game went into a shootout. Davis and Nick Palmieri scored for the Devils, while none of the four P-Bruins shooters scored as Lowell went onto the 3-2 shootout victory.
Matt Dalton stopped 28 of 30 shots in regulation and one shot in the shootout, while Mike McKenna made 33 saves in regulation and four saves in the shootout for the Devils. The P-Bruins were 1-for-4 on the power play and 2-for-2 on the penalty kill.
Providence is back in action at The Dunk on Friday for St. Patty's T-Shirt Night at 7:05 p.m. versus Wilkes-Barre/Scranton. The P-Bruins hit the road Saturday to the Glens Falls Civic Center to face the Adirondack Phantoms at 7:00 p.m. The P-Bruins wrap up the week at home at The Dunk Sunday at 4:05 p.m. for Amica Lip Balm Night against the Binghamton Senators.
