
P-Bruins announce training camp dates

Providence Bruins News Release
The Providence Bruins announced today the dates for their 2004-05 training camp. Three training camp sessions will be open to the public. The Bruins' 13th training camp will begin on Wednesday, September 29 at 10:30 a.m. at the Dunkin' Donuts Center Providence. Head coach Scott Gordon and his club will also play a four-game pre-season schedule before kicking off the regular season on Friday, October 15 7:05 p.m. against the Springfield Falcons at the Dunkin' Donuts Center.
The public sessions will take place at the Rhode Island Sports Center. The Sports Center is located on Rte. 146 in North Smithfield, Rhode Island. The first practice will be on Saturday, October 2 from 1:40 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. The two other open practices will be on Monday, October 4 from 9:50 a.m. to 11:50 a.m., and Tuesday, October 5 from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. For directions to the rink, please call (401) 762-1588.
Among the players coming to training camp are veteran forwards Kris Vernarsky, Derek Bekar, Ben Guite and Jeff Daw, as well as defensemen Jayme Filipowicz and Matthieu Descoteaux. In addition, goaltender Matt Underhill, who played seven games with Providence in 2002-03, will be in camp. Goaltender Peter Hamerlik, who spent part of the 2003-04 season with Providence, is also slated to compete for a job. A full training camp roster follows.

The Bruins begin the pre-season on Wednesday, October 6 at 7:05 p.m., when they host the Portland Pirates at the Bradford R. Boss Arena at the University of Rhode Island. They also travel to Portland for a 7:00 p.m. game against the Pirates on Friday, October 8 at 7:00 p.m.
The Black and Gold concludes the pre-season schedule with a home-and-home series against the Falcons beginning on Saturday, October 9 at 7:00 p.m. at the Olympia Ice Rink in West Springfield, Massachusetts. The teams wrap up the pre-season on Sunday, October 10 at 2:00 p.m. at the Bridgewater (Massachusetts) Ice Arena.

The Providence Bruins open their 13th season at home at the Dunkin' Donuts Center Providence on Friday, October 15 at 7:05 p.m. against the Springfield Falcons.
