P-Bruins announce training camp dates

Providence Bruins News Release


The Providence Bruins announced today the dates for their 2003-04 training camp. All training camp sessions will be open to the public. The Bruins' 12th training camp will begin on Friday, September 19 at 10:00 a.m. at the Rhode Island Sports Center, located on Rte. 146 in North Smithfield, Rhode Island. The P-Bruins also announced today that 15 players have been reassigned to the team from the Boston Bruins. The players include goaltender Peter Hamerlik, and defensemen John Cronin, former Providence College standout Jay Leach, P.J. Martin and Peter Metcalf, who played 40 games for the Black and Gold in 2002-03. The forwards include third-year veteran Carl Corazzini and second-year player Chris Paradise, Colton Orr and Brendan Walsh. In addition, Greg Barber, Blake Bellefeuille, Matt Hubbauer, Brett Nowak and Adam Smyth will be in camp. The P-Bruins' roster will be updated on the team website daily, as additions and subtractions are made.

The P-Bruins begin their six-game exhibition season on Friday, September 26 at 7:30 p.m., when they face off with the Hartford Wolf Pack at the New England Sports Center in Marlboro, Massachusetts. The teams meet again the next night at 7:05 p.m. at the Champions Skating Center in Cromwell, Connecticut. The Bruins wrap up the weekend on Sunday, September 28 at 5:00 p.m., when they play the Lowell Lock Monsters at the Stoneham Arena in Stoneham, Massachusetts.

Head coach Scott Gordon's team plays the Springfield Falcons at Boss Arena at the University of Rhode Island on Wednesday, October 1 at 7:05 p.m. They play Lowell at the Bridgewater (MA) Ice Arena on Friday, October 3 at 7:05 p.m., before wrapping up the exhibition season the next night at the Springfield Civic Center, where they take on the Falcons at 7:35 p.m.

The Bruins open up the 2003-04 regular season, their 12th in the AHL, on Friday, October 10, when they host the Springfield Falcons at 7:05 p.m. The Providence Bruins will host a Boston Bruins pre-season game against the Stanley Cup champion New Jersey Devils at the Dunkin' Donuts Center Providence on Tuesday, September 30, 2003 at 7:05 p.m.

The Providence Bruins are currently offering a Hat Trick Special. Fans can purchase a ticket to the Boston Bruins game on September 30, as well as a ticket to the Providence Bruins-Worcester IceCats game on Friday, October 17 at 7:05 p.m. and to the Providence Bruins-Bridgeport Sound Tigers game on Saturday, November 8 at 7:05 p.m., for just $40. In addition, fans that purchase four Hat Trick Specials will receive a free Providence Bruins hat.
