Providence Bruins News Release

Providence, RI - The Providence Bruins have announced a multi-year agreement with Providence College Athletics to hold practices at Schneider Arena beginning this season.

The P-Bruins will conduct practices at Schneider Arena when their home ice at the Dunkin' Donuts Center is not available. The team had previously used the Rhode Island Sports Center located in North Smithfield, R.I. for practices when the Dunk was unavailable. Schneider Arena serves as the home of Providence College men's and women's hockey as well as many Rhode Island youth, high school and junior hockey programs.

Schneider Arena was built in 1973 and dedicated in memory of Reverend Herman D. Schneider, O.P., the founder of the Friars' highly successful hockey program as well as a member of the school's faculty. The arena underwent an eight-month renovation and reopened September 27, 2013 with a 30,000 square-foot addition. The renovation consisted of a new atrium, ticket office, concession stands, coaches offices, shooting room, locker rooms, meeting rooms, athletic training room, press box, five luxury suites, dasher boards, glass, video boards, video ribbon boards, scoreboards, a renovated Friends of Friar Room, and a strength and conditioning facility.
