Owner Maribeth Hayes Looks Back on Weekend Sweep

Port Huron Fighting Falcons News Release

It is such a great time to be a fan of the Port Huron Fighting Falcons!

I've been lucky enough to be able to make three cross-country trips through the first two months of the 2013-14 season, and last weekend's sweep of the Soo Eagles has been my favorite so far.

I am so proud of our players for their hard work on and off the ice. This is such a great group of young men, and I was pleased to share a great pre-game lunch with them at Olive Garden over the weekend. Our older players have been great leaders and have gone above and beyond the call of duty in leading by example.

Our staff had a great time celebrating Friday's shutout win across the street at Lynch's Irish Tavern. Every person on our staff has worked tirelessly to make our home games a great experience for our fans. In terms of family-friendly entertainment, I don't think you can do better for the money than a Fighting Falcons home game.

I was so glad to be able to spend some time with some of our billet families after Saturday's overtime win at Casey's Pizza in downtown Port Huron. Our billet families have shown so much support over the years, and have allowed our scouts to bring in players from across the country, because we know that we will have a safe home away from home for them here in town.

In the games I've been able to attend I've gotten to know so many new friends in the crowd. Seeing sponsors like Larry Smith of Radio First, Jack Cartmell of Quality Inn and Dr. Marshall of Marshall Chiropractic (to name a few of MANY) shows the level of support this community has given us this season. Our sponsors have been our fans, and we couldn't be luckier to play in such a great hockey community.

I've sat in the same seat for each of the four games I've been able to watch this season, and I'm not sure the Fighting Falcons have a bigger fan than Kevin Samuelson, who has sat in front of me each game.

I'd like to thank Anita Newby for her amazing performances of our National Anthem over the weekend. The anthem has been a moving experience at every game I've been to this year, and we are proud to be able to honor area veterans before our games.

The Fighting Falcons are a team on the rise in all aspects of the organization. Beginning this week, we will expand our efforts in area schools as our players take on exciting roles in the Lunch Buddy program at local elementary schools. We're looking to hire experienced sales agents to explore new partnership opportunities in the area. We are a first-place team striving everyday to be a first-rate organization.

I'm so grateful for all the kind words from our fans, and I'm so glad to have been able to see this team's rise to the top firsthand this season. I hope that I get more opportunities to visit the Blue Water Area as the Fighting Falcons continue their path to the Robertson Cup.

Sincerley,

Maribeth Hayes
