The Michigan Warriors relied on the sparkling performance of Dillion Kelley in net to grab a 5-1 win against the Wenatchee Wild.
Michigan was sparked by Alec Pellegrino, who had one goal and one assist. Pellegrino scored 4:35 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Michigan. Zack Szajner provided the assist.
The Warriors excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. Michigan could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 26 minutes in penalties during the game.
Michigan also got points from TJ Stuntz, who also grabbed one goal and one assist and Colin Larkin, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Michigan also got a goal from Connor Lyons as well. In addition, Michigan received assists from Jake Faiella, John Nugent, Nick Govig, and Jake Hopfner, who contributed one a piece.
Wenatchee could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 26 minutes in penalties during the game.
The Wild were led by Nick Anderson, who scored the team's only goal. Anderson scored 15:38 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Michigan. David Powlowski picked up the assist.
Dillion Kelley made 25 saves for the Warriors on 26 shots. Michigan registered one goal on four power play opportunities. Gustaf Johansson took the loss and made 13 saves before being replaced by Chase Perry who made 11 saves.
