Forest City Owls News Release

Asheboro, NC- Bryan Aanderud hit his second home run of the year, but it wasn't enough as the Owls lost to the Asheboro Copperheads 4-2 on Saturday night. Four different Copperheads recorded an RBI for Asheboro. The Snakes' bullpen was strong as well, holding Forest City hitless over the final three innings. Dylan Dickens pitched a perfect 8th and 9th innings for his third save of the season.

The loss drops the Owls to 20-9 overall on the season, as Forest City opens the second half of league play with the defeat. Aanderud's solo homer in the 2nd inning off Nate Smith put the Owls in front 1-0. Asheboro tied it right back up with a sacrifice bunt for an RBI in the bottom half of the 2nd. Gunnar Heidt's RBI single plated Nick McQuail in the 3rd inning, putting Forest City up 2-1, but the bats would go silent from there.

The Copperheads struck back with an RBI double from Luke Tendler in the 4th inning to tie the game once again. Asheboro went ahead for good on a bases loaded infield single by Lucas Witt. Ford Wilson's RBI triple in the 8th provided the insurance run. Hunter Privette made his first appearance for the Owls tonight. The South Carolina reliever pitched two scoreless innings.
