Outshooting Switchbacks FC Is Not Enough for Las Vegas Lights
June 17, 2023 - United Soccer League Championship (USL)
Las Vegas Lights FC News Release
Lights FC visited Colorado Springs in the second of a three-game road trip for Las Vegas.
The Lights came out fast and furious to kick off the match, putting up a total of 10 shots and 5 of them on target in the first half, but goalkeeper Christian Herrera had a prominent performance to end this game with a clean sheet.
The Switchbacks opened the score in the 37th minute courtesy of Romario Williams, extending their lead with an insurance goal in the second half from Maalique Nathanael Foster.
Las Vegas didn't have lady luck on their side. They won the possession battle 51% to 49%, nearly tripled the shots on target that Colorado Springs had 8 to 3, but at the end of the day soccer is about putting the ball in the back of the net and the Switchbacks were able to do so twice.
NEXT GAME:
Lights FC will conclude its three-game road trip on Saturday, June 24th at 5 p.m. PT against Louisville City FC.
NEXT HOME GAME:
The next match for the Lights in Downtown Las Vegas will be on July 1st against Eastern Conference powerhouse Tampa Bay Rowdies, who have Lights FC's all-time leading scorer Cal Jennings in their roster. That will be the first of four consecutive games at Cashman Field for Las Vegas.
