Outlaws Will Determine Playoff Seed this Weekend

Denver-August 9, 2007- The Denver Outlaws Lacrosse team has already clinched a spot in the 2007 Major League Lacrosse playoffs and this weekend's game in San Francisco will determine their final seeding. While the four MLL playoff teams have been determined - Denver Outlaws, Philadelphia Barrage, Los Angeles Riptide, Rochester Rattlers - this weekends game will finalize Division champions and all four playoff seeds.
The Outlaws could still win the Western Conference this weekend by beating San Francisco and with Los Angeles losing to Chicago. Because both Denver and Los Angeles would finish the season with identical records at 8-4 and Denver owns a 2-1 head-to-head advantage over Los Angeles this season, Denver would become the Western Conference Champion for a second year in a row.
There is only one way Denver can get the top seed in the playoffs: Denver must win and all three other playoff teams must lose this weekend. In this scenario, each team would finish with an 8-4 record and Denver and Philadelphia would become the two Division Champions. Because Denver beat Philadelphia at INVESCO Field in their head-to-head match-up on July 21, Denver would receive the number one seed in the playoffs.
The Outlaws are looking to make it back to the Championship game this year, after losing to Philadelphia last year, in the team's first year as a franchise.
The 2007 MLL Championship weekend will take place in Rochester, NY at PAETEC Park on August 25 & 26. The two semi-final games on Saturday, August 25 are scheduled for 2:00pm and 5:00pm Eastern Standard Time, with the Championship game scheduled for Sunday, August 26 at 1:00pm Eastern Standard Time. While the Championship game will air live on ESPN2 at 1:00pm Eastern Standard Time on August 26, the Semi-final broadcasts are still being determined.
