Outlaws Veteran Defenseman Tom Garvey to Retire

DENVER - The Denver Outlaws announced today that defenseman Tom Garvey (Johns Hopkins) has retired from the organization. The veteran played in 51 games for the Outlaws over four years, including seven playoff games. The Garden City, N.Y. native also collected 60 ground balls through his career and accumulated eight penalty minutes.
"Tom is what we want all of Outlaws players to be, unselfish, talented, hard working and competitive," said Head Coach and General Manager Brian Reese. "He has always done whatever we needed him to do for the team to be successful and was highly respected in the locker room. I want to thank him for all of his dedication and sacrifices to the organization and wish him the best."
Garvey took a moment to reflect on his time in Denver yesterday.
"Denver is the greatest organization in professional lacrosse," mentioned Garvey. "Everyone involved, from our owner (Pat Bowlen) to the marketing staff, makes playing in Denver a wonderfully unique experience. I will miss this city and the Outlaws organization. This will always be my team though, and I will continue to support the Outlaws and look forward to the day when we raise the championship trophy."
Garvey's experience with Denver was the culmination of a successful lacrosse playing career. He was also part of the 2003 NCAA All-Tournament Team, named a Second Team STX/USILA All-American in 2004 and a First Team All-American by Inside Lacrosse in 2005.
