Chico Outlaws News Release
For 6.1 innings the Flyers played great and got a strong pitching performance from Craig Frydendall. After Frydendall exited, things seemed to fall apart.
Reliever Ryan Olson came in and got the second out, but gave up a bloop double to Alex Froloff allowing the tying run to score.
In the 8th, Olson hit leadoff batter Bobby Gandolfo, who would be hit again while he was in the middle of a run down in between first and second. The ball scooted off into left field and he ended up at third.
Desi Wilson would single up the middle in the same at-bat bringing him home as the go ahead run. Chico added another run in the inning giving them a 5-3 lead.
Both starting pitchers were solid, but Chico starter Mike Cosgrove's ability to retire 13 in a row after getting roughed up in the third helped the Outlaws stay in the game.
The Flyers took a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the third on doubles by Garry Templeton II and Rich Pohle, followed by an RBI single from Peanut Williams, which looked like all the run support Frydendall would need.
Williams RBI was his 27th on the year getting him closer Chico's Mike Mallory who has 28.
The Flyers would add a run in the bottom of the 8th on a wild throw at first allowing Templeton to score, but Chad Chop grounded out with two on and two out to end the game.
The Flyers dropped under .500 at 11-12.
