For the second time in three games, the Outlaws are victorious in walk-off fashion as the team continued its 11 game win streak with a 12-11 victory against the Orange County Flyers.
Down by a run in the bottom of the ninth, Scott Dragicevich hit a single off Flyers closer Dave Coggin to bring in Eric Pringle to complete the four-game series sweep of the Flyers. Dragicevich, also the hero of Friday's walk-off victory was a force for the entire series. The third baseman was 4-for-6 on the day and was 11 for 20 with 11 RBI in the series.
Down by five runs in the sixth inning, chances for the Outlaws to extend their record setting win streak seemed slim. But the Outlaws put together six unanswered runs to take the win. After the Outlaws opened up the game with two quick runs, Outlaws pitcher Derrick Loop immediately ran into trouble. The lefty, going for a league leading fifth win loaded the bases with no outs in the top of the second inning. After a short pop fly made the first out of the inning, Loop induced a double play ball into the infield. Getting the out at second, the throw from shortstop Jesse Kovacs to first was high and forced Todd Gossage to come off the bag.
Problems would ensue after the failed double play attempt as the Flyers scored four runs in the inning. Orange County continued to score consistently thru the game utilizing a combined 10 walks by Loop and Jake McLintock as the catalyst. The Outlaws also took advantage of the free pass. After Flyers reliever Jarred Terrebonne walked the Outlaws eighth and ninth hitters, the top of the order hammered the ball in for a four run inning. Entering the series a half game behind the Flyers, the Outlaws are now enjoying a comfortable 3.5 game lead with a 17-6 record.
The Outlaws look for consecutive win No. 12 on Tuesday as Chico takes on the Reno Silver Sox at Peccole Park on the University of Nevada, Reno campus. Game time is 7 p.m.
