Chico Outlaws News Release

(Chico, CA. August 10th, 2010) The Chico Outlaws today announced the "Knuckle Princess" Eri Yoshida will make her next start on August 20th against Maui at 7:05 pm. Yoshida will attempt to record her first win of the year and got a no-decision in her last start in Calgary back on August 1st.

Yoshida, 18, will be making her eighth start of the year against the Na Koa Ikaika, winners of the GBL South Division first-half crown. The series against the "Strong Warriors" marks the only visit of the year by Maui into the Nett.

Despite an 0-3 record, Yoshida has adapted well to the rigors of the playing professional baseball and got her first taste of road action on the Outlaws first road trip up to Canada, making a start in Victoria on July 27th and in Calgary on August 1st. The start in Victoria made her the the first woman to pitch professionally in three countries, having now pitched in her native Japan with the Kobe Cruise 9 of the independent Kansai League last year before coming to Chico this year.

2010 has been a year of firsts for Yoshida, who had her jersey and bat she used in her inaugural game in Chico against Tijuana on May 29th collected by the National Baseball Hall of Fame for an exhibit on "What's Happening Now in Baseball". The jersey and bat are currently on display in Cooperstown, NY, sharing a display case with the cap worn by Washington Nationals phenom Stephen Strasburg in his Major League Baseball debut on June 8th, when he fanned 14 Pittsburgh Pirates in his first tase of big league action.

The Outlaws currently are in Edmonton for the first four games of an eight-game road trip through Edmonton and Victoria, the second Outlaws road trip through Canada this season. Fans catch the Outlaws games in Victoria starting Saturday night on the Seals Baseball Network with Mike Walker, the play by play voice of the Seals at http://victoriaseals.ca/

The next broadcast on the Outlaws Baseball Network will be Thursday night, August 19th at 7:05 pm as the Outlaws host Maui. Fans can catch all the action with Dan Hawkins starting at 6:50 pm. Watch live on www.justin.tv.com/chicooutlawsbaseball or audio only at www.chicooutlaws.com.
