Chico Outlaws News Release
CHICO- The Chico Outlaws finished their final practice of Spring Training today. In what has been a frantic eleven days marred by terrible weather, Mike Marshall has used his limited time to reduce the squad of 42 guys at the beginning of camp to the 23 Outlaws who will take the field Thursday in Yuma.
The team will take to the air tomorrow morning on their way to Yuma, AZ to take on the Scorpions. The game will mark the opening of the newly minted North American Baseball League's season. The Outlaws will look to add the new league's championship trophy to their already glowing list of accolades.
The lengthy roadtrip will provide the first test of the season for the Outlaws. The team will be away from home for a little over three weeks, from May 25th until June 18th. The voyage will consist of four series, @ Yuma (May 26th- May 31st), @ Maui (June 2nd- June 7th), @ Calgary (June 9th- June 12th), and @ Edmonton (June 15th- June 17th). The trip will take the Outlaws on a whopping 7620 mile expedition.
The road-tested Outlaws will have to stay sharp when they return to Chico as they will start a series vs. Calgary the day they get home. The first home series of the year will be comprised of seven games in five days, including two double headers, and will be highlighted by fireworks night on opening day, June 18th.
