Outlaws Fall To Boston Cannons In 10th Annual Mile High Fourth Of July Game

DENVER - The Denver Outlaws (5-6) fell in a 22-9 contest to the Boston Cannons (6-4) at Sports Authority Field at Mile High Saturday in front of a league record 31,644 fans. The Outlaws took a 3-0 lead before the Cannons went on an eight-point run to close out the first quarter.

The Denver Outlaws fell four games behind first place New York Lizards and into a tie for fifth place with tonight's loss, and have three games remaining on the schedule.

Despite shooting one shot fewer on goal compared to the Cannons, the Outlaws scored nine goals to Boston's 18. Denver also picked up 10 more ground balls and won eight more faceoffs than the Cannons.

After Boston's eight-point run in the first quarter, the Cannons continued to carry the momentum. Boston led 13-7 at the half and outscored Denver 5-0 in the third quarter. The Cannons closed out their win with a 4-2 fourth quarter, after holding the Outlaws scoreless for 25:11, to seal their 22-9 victory.

Denver will take on the New York Lizards Thursday at 5:30 p.m. MDT Shuart Stadium in their last away game before taking on the Florida Launch and New York at home to close out the 2015 season.
