Chico Outlaws News Release

(Chico, CA) The Chico Outlaws hoped for a different game on Saturday night at the Nett than the game played on Friday night. Getting their wish for a different game, the Outlaws ended up on the short end of the results side, dropping the game 5-1 at the hands of the Calgary Vipers.

Dustin Gober (7-1) pitched brilliantly for Calgary, going seven and two-thirds innings and allowing just one run while striking out seven Outlaws enroute to his seventh win of the year.

Demetrius Banks (8-2) took the loss for Chico, going five-plus innings and allowing four runs, three earned on six hits and striking out four.

Calgary's Jonny Kaplan had a banner night, smacking two homers and going 3 for 5 with 3 RBIs for the evening, while Coanabo Cosme and Brent Metheny picked up RBI doubles for the Snakes, who improve to 12-6 in the second half with the win.

The Outlaws lone run of the night came in the eighth inning on a Mark Samuelson RBI single.

Chico drops to 9-9 in the second half with the loss, three games behind first-place Calgary.
