(Mason City, IA) The North Iowa Outlaws Junior "A" Hockey team closed out October with a solid performance, routing the Wasilla Spirit, 8-1 Sunday afternoon at the North Iowa Arena.

Special teams launched the Outlaws to a 4-0 advantage after one period. Three of the goals came on the power play. Defenseman Matt Morin (Brooklyn Park, MN) started the scoring, with a 5-on-3 power play goal at 8:29, which was assisted by Ben Boulay (Bloomington, MN) and Josh Seifert (Superior, WI). Just over a minute later, with the Outlaws holding a man advantage, Max Mobley (Glendale, AZ) found the back of the net, on a play set up by Steve McLeod (Atikokan, Ontario, Canada) and Patrick Dynan (Maple Plain, MN). Boulay tallied North Iowa's third power play goal of the opening canto, with Morin and Seifert assisting. Then, McLeod got into the scoring act, while Wasilla was on the power play. He got control of the puck in the neutral zone, and scored a short-handed goal at 15:06. It was the Outlaws first short-handed goal in club history. Brian Spring (Urbandale, IA) recorded North Iowa's lone second period goal, at the 8:50 mark, on assists from Mike Sand (Jeddo, MI) and Cody Mosbeck (Emo, Ontario, Canada). The Outlaws then took a 6-0 lead 18 seconds into the third period, as Dynan scored his 15th goal of the season. Mobley and McLeod got the assists. The Spirit's Bill Brennan spoiled the shutout bid of North Iowa goalie Erik Largen (Fairbanks, AK), netting the Wasilla goal at 4:49. The Outlaws then rounded out the scoring, with two more scores. Boulay's second goal of the game came at 12:43, with an assist credited to Brad Krueger (Des Moines, IA). Cory Ellertson (Albert Lea, MN) scored North Iowa's fourth power play goal of the game, with 46 seconds remaining, with Morin assisting.

Sunday's game marked the fourth time in the last 10 games that the Outlaws have scored three or more power play goals in a game. In three of the four contests, North Iowa has tallied four goals on the power play.
