BAKERSFIELD, CA (May 1, 2002) – The Bakersfield Blitz staff, coaches and players continue to support the community by making appearances at public events around the city of Bakersfield and the outlying areas.

Recent Appearances:

Monday, April 15 – Head coach James Fuller and assistant coach Dennis Manning played in the Boys and Girls Club golf tournament at Seven Oaks Country Club in Bakersfield. The Blitz dance team also participated by helping serve food and drinks at select holes on the course.

Monday, April 15 – Blitz PR Director Todd Anderson appeared on the Brian Long radio show, recapping the previous week's game.

Tuesday, April 16 – Blitz players and dance team members took part in a school assembly at Columbia Elementary School.

Wednesday, April 17 – Blitz players and dance team members were at Fremont Elementary School for a school assembly.

Thursday, April 18 – Blitz players and dance team members were at Casa Loma Elementary School for a school assembly.

Thursday, April 18 – Defensive specialist Delvin Myles appeared on the Brian Long radio show on KGEO 1230-AM.

Friday, April 19 – Blitz players Ryan Sloth, Gerrick Bivins and Julian Yearwood were on KERN 1410-AM's morning radio show, talking about the first home game for the Blitz.

Friday, April 19 – Blitz dance team members appeared on HOT 94.1's morning radio show.

Friday, April 19 – Blitz dance team members were at Discovery Elementary School for a school assembly.

Friday, April 19 – Blitz players and staff members were at Ollivier Middle School for a career day. The players signed autographs, played football with the kids and talked to them about the importance of school.

Friday, April 19 – Head coach James Fuller appeared on the Brian Long radio show on KGEO 1230-AM.

Monday, April 22 – Blitz PR Director Todd Anderson appeared on the Brian Long radio show on KGEO 1230-AM, recapping the previous week's game. Thursday, April 25 – Head coach James Fuller appeared on the Brian Long radio show on KGEO 1230-AM about the upcoming game in Tulsa.

Upcoming Appearances:

Friday, May 3 – Blitz players Ryan Sloth and Delvin Myles will appear on the KLLY 95.3 morning radio show, from 7:30 – 8 AM, to promote the game against Fresno on Saturday.

Friday, May 3 – Blitz players will be at Hometown Buffet from 11 AM – 12:30 PM for the Ollivier Middle School career day banquet.

Friday, May 3 – Head coach James Fuller will appear on the Brian Long radio show on 1230-AM KGEO to preview Saturday's game against the Fresno Frenzy.

Saturday, May 4 – The Bakersfield Blitz battle the Fresno Frenzy at the Centennial Garden at 7 pm. Anyone wearing a local Bakersfield jersey (football, baseball, basketball, etc.) will receive five dollars off any ticket. After the game, the team will be at Woody's Bar and Grill to meet fans and sponsors.

Sunday, May 5 – Head coach James Fuller will play in the Congregational Church of Shafter's annual golf tournament at Buena Vista golf course.

Wednesday, May 8 – Blitz staff members will speak at the Oildale Kiwanis Club's lunch meeting at 12 noon.

Thursday, May 9 – Blitz General Manager Brad Hoffman will speak at the North of the River Chamber of Commerce's monthly luncheon about the Blitz organization and business in the community.

Saturday, May 11 – Blitz players will be at the Bakersfield aquatic center from 11:30 AM – 1:30 PM to sign autographs and talk to kids.

Monday, May 13 – Blitz staff members and head coach James Fuller will speak to the Wasco Rotary Club about the Blitz at 12 noon in Wasco.

Tuesday, May 14 – Blitz staff members will be at the Bakersfield Sports Lions Club meeting to talk about the Blitz organization. The meeting is at 7 pm in the Red Lion Hotel on Rosedale Highway in Bakersfield.

Tuesday, May 14 – Blitz staff members and dance team members will be at the Kern County Products Dinner at the Kern County Fairgrounds, building # 3, from 6 – 9 PM.

The Bakersfield Blitz' next home game is Saturday, May 4, against the Fresno Frenzy in the "Battle of Highway 99" at the Centennial Garden. Kickoff is set for 7 pm with the pre-game tailgate party starting at 5 pm in the plaza in front of the Garden. There will be hamburgers and hotdogs, beer and soda to drink, face painting and a bounce house for kids. Tickets are available at all Ticketmaster locations and the Centennial Garden box office.
