Rochester Brigade News Release
(Rochester, NY)-Today, the Rochester Brigade took part in the 10th annual Day of Caring Event, which began with a kick off rally at the Convention Center this morning. Players and cheerleaders from the Brigade sparked the crowd by throwing, t-shirts, ticket vouchers and other prizes to those in attendance.
Immediately following the rally, volunteers spent the day working alongside staff and clients at local health and human service organizations. Volunteer efforts on more than 685 projects averaged nearly 94,000 hours of community service. This donation of time and materials values more than $1.4 million dollars toward helping not-for-profits better meet their community's needs.
The goal of Day of Caring is to mobilize community-minded volunteers and provide them with an opportunity to lend their time, talent, and energy at area health and human service organizations. Volunteers learn about the services and programs that are making a difference in the lives of those in need. They also have the opportunity to see first-hand that their United Way dollars are put to good use.
Throughout the day, Brigade players and cheerleaders made contributions to the event as they visited the three winning youth project sites in the "Make Your Mark" contest, worked with the youth and passed out tickets to the May 10th home game against the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Pioneers.
For ticket information on upcoming Brigade home games, contact the Brigade office at 585-292-1530 or check out the team website at www.rochesterbrigade.com.
