Otters Trade for Centerman

December 9, 2003 - United Hockey League (UHL)
Missouri River Otters News Release

St. Charles, MO- Looking for more offensive punch, the Missouri River Otters traded defenseman Anthony Cappelletti to the Rockford Icehogs for centerman Chris Bell. Bell, 27, has registered two goals and five assists in twenty games this season. He's been particularly dangerous against the River Otters, scoring five points in seven games. With his plus-1 ranking, Bell was one of only five Icehogs players with a positive plus/minus ranking.

"Bell is going to be given the chance to succeed here," said Missouri coach Lonnie Loach. "He was the third line center with the Icehogs, but he'll get the chance to play a much larger role in the offense here."

The Otters grudgingly parted with defenseman Anthony Cappelletti in order to get Bell. Cappelletti has three goals and two assists so far this season, along with 44 penalty minutes. He has a plus/minus ranking of minus-14.

"We had to give up a quality player to fill a need," said Loach. "You don't get something for nothing, and we were sorry to part with Anthony."

The River Otters next home game is next Sunday, December 14, at 6:30 against the Columbus Stars. Great tickets are still available, and can be purchased by calling the Family Arena at 636-896-4200.
