Erie Otters News Release
HAMILTON, ON - The Otters headed to Hamilton this afternoon for a 4PM matchup against the Bulldogs. In the First, Alex Gritz opened the scoring for Erie with his sixth of the year, but Hamilton answer moments later with a goal of their own, coming from Isaac Nurse. Alex Gritz would find the back of the net for the second time of the period to send the Otters into the dressing room ahead 2-1.
In the second, Hamilton would begin the frame with three unanswered goals in the first five minutes, coming from Dj King, Cameron Supryka, and Arthur Kaliyev. Erie would find their scoring touch once again with a goal from Brendan Hoffmann to cut the Hamilton lead to one goal heading into the final period.
Erie replicated Hamilton's start to the second with three goals of their own to open the final period, from Gera Poddubnyi, Brendan Hoffmann, and Emmett Sproule. Arthur Kaliyev answered with a tally to make the score 6-5, but Danial Singer would answer immediately for Erie to restore their two goal lead. As the final buzzer neared, Jan Jenik would cut the Erie lead back to one with his fourth of the year, but Gera Poddubnyi would net his 23rd of the season into the empty net to restore the multi goal lead once again. Matthew Strome found the back of the net with 39 seconds remaining, but it would prove to be too little, too late and the Otters took this one 8-7 in Hamilton
Erie will return home to face their division rival Kitchener Rangers on Wednesday evening at 7PM at Erie Insurane Arena.
