Otters close out regular season victorious

Justin Hodgman scored a goal and two assists for the second straight game to lead the Erie Otters to a 4-1 win over the Guelph Storm in an Ontario Hockey League game played tonight in front of 3,846 at the Tullio Arena. Luke Gazdic, Sean Jones and Mike Liambas also scored for the Otters, who won for the second straight time to close out the regular season with a 34-29-3-2 record. The 34 wins are the third most in franchise history. Peter Holland netted the lone Storm goal. Guelph completed the campaign at 35-26-4-3. Erie led 1-0 after one and 3-1 heading into the third. The Otters out shot the Storm 33-29 in the game as Jaroslav Janus posted the victory. The three stars of the game were 1. Jones; 2. Otters forward Ryan O'Reilly (two assists) and 3. Liambas.

The Otters return to action for the first two games of their best-of-seven opening round playoff series against the London Knights on Friday (at 7:30 p.m.) and Saturday (at 7 p.m.) at the John Labatt Centre in London. Both games can be heard live on FOX Sports Radio AM 130 The FAN and on-line at www.ottershockey.com (presented by the James H. Cross Company) beginning with the pre-game show 15 minutes prior to the opening face off.
