
Otters Break Out With OT Win

Nick Palmieri scored the game winner one minute into overtime to lead the Erie Otters to a 4-3 win over the Belleville Bulls in an Ontario Hockey League game played tonight in front of 3,745 at the Tullio Arena.
The win ended a franchise record 16-game losing streak (0-14-1-1) for the Otters as well as a six-game home losing streak. Erie improved to 4-17-1-1 with their first win since October 6th.
Ryan O'Reilly, Kelly Geoffrey and Sean Jones (in his first game with the Otters) scored the Erie goals while Robyn Sertic and Justin Hodgman collected two assists each.
Shawn Matthias paced the Bulls with a goal and an assist. Matt Belesky and Bryan Cameron also scored for Belleville, who saw a three-game winning streak end with the loss. The Bulls are now 14-5-2-1 on the season.
Belleville led 1-0 after the first and second periods. Erie scored three times in the opening half of the third to build a 3-1 lead only to see the Bulls score twice in 23 seconds with less than four minutes remaining in regulation to force overtime.
The Bulls out shot the Otters 43-38 in the game as Jaroslav Janus posted the victory.
The three stars of the game were all from the Otters. Palmieri was the first, Janus the second and Jones the third.
The Otters continue a busy week of action Saturday night at the Tullio Arena when the Kitchener Rangers visit for a 7:30 p.m. It's BOB-FM Night with free admission to all Bobs, Roberts and Robertas.
