Ottawa Visits Kitchener Sunday for 'BizNasty' Day at the Aud

Kitchener, ON - The Kitchener Rangers head into Sunday's match after a 6-2 win against Erie on Friday night. The Rangers will host the Ottawa 67's for the first and only time this season for a 2 pm puck drop at The Aud.

PROMOTIONS

The Kitchener Rangers will be joined by hockey personality Paul Bissonnette also known as "BizNasty" for two different fan experiences and a special puck drop at the game. These events include a pre-game event in Subscribers Lounge with a Q&A and meet and greet as well as a separate event in the Blueline Club to watch the game and interact with Biz over some food and good hockey.

Last Meeting:

The last match between Kitchener and Ottawa was on January 20th, 2023 where the Rangers finished with a 4-1 victory to knock the 67's out of the first-place spot for the first time that season. Rangers Matthew Sop, Mitchell Martin, and Matthew Andonovski (Ottawa Senators) are the only current Rangers skaters to register a point, each grabbing an assist. Current Ottawa skaters Will Gerrior and Caden Kelly both recorded an assist.

Over the Years:

The Rangers and 67's have played each other 10 times dating back to the 2016-17 season. The Rangers own the overall record at 6-4-0-0 and while playing at The Aud, their record is 4-1-0-0. The 2016-17 season was the best campaign when the Rangers won both games over the 67's. In these games, the Rangers have scored 36 goals while the 67's have scored 35.

Last Time Out:

In the Rangers' last game Carson Rehkopf (Seattle Kraken) recorded his fourth hat trick of the season and second in as many nights. Trent Swick grabbed three assists and Hunter Brzustewicz (Vancouver Canucks) registered two assists. Matthew Sop had two goals and an assist and Adrian Misaljevic finished the game with a goal and an assist.

Rangers to Watch:

Hunter Brzustewicz (Vancouver Canucks) is currently tied for first in the league for the most points with an 8-56-64 stat line. The blueliner also has the most assists (56) in the league and is third in most powerplay assists (17).

Carson Rehkopf (Seattle Kraken) has registered 37 goals and 25 assists for 62 points in 33 games. He sits third in points in the league, with the most goals, second most powerplay goals (12), the most game-winning goals (7), and the most insurance goals (6). Rehkopf has played in two games against Ottawa and has recorded three assists.

Matthew Sop has recorded 26 goals and 35 assists for 61 points in 41 games. Sop is ranked fourth for the most points and fourth for game-winning goals in the league (6). He is currently on a three-game point streak, over these three games he has five points (4G, 1A). Sop has played two games against Ottawa and has registered three assists total.

Goaltenders:

Tristan Malboeuf has picked up his game since the holiday break coming up big in his last three starts. His record is 11-2-1-0 with a 3.09 goals against average and a .869 save percentage. Malboeuf played the most recent game at The Aud against Erie, facing 23 shots allowing two goals to finish the game with a .913 save percentage.

Jackson Parsons has been a wall in net for the Rangers this season with a record of 17-9-1. His goals-against average is 2.95 which is third best in the OHL and his save percentage is .900. Parsons also holds the most shutouts in the league with four.

Last Time Out:

Ottawa took the ice last night against Owen Sound on the road coming away with a 6-4 victory. Braeden Kressler was the first star of the game with two goals while Samuel Mayer had three assists and Luca Pinelli and Brady Stonehouse each recorded two assists. Ottawa's powerplay went a perfect three-for-three in the game.

67's to Watch:

Luca Pinelli (Columbus Blue Jackets), brother of former Ranger Francesco Pinelli (Los Angeles Kings) is currently leading the 67's in points with a 29-15-44 stat line. He is fourth in goals, third in power-play goals (12), and fifth in insurance goals (4) in the OHL. Over his last three games played Pinelli has registered three goals and four assists.

Newley acquired 67's from the Flint Firebirds, Braeden Kressler (Toronto Maple Leafs) has registered 17 goals and 24 assists for 41 points. The Kitchener native is second on the 67's in points. He made his debut for the 67's on Friday night registering two assists followed by a two-goal performance last night. Despite Kressler being undrafted, he was signed by the Toronto Maple Leafs on October 2nd, 2021.

Henry Mews is tied with Samuel Mayer for most points by defencemen for the 67's with a 6-27-33 stat line. Over the last four games, Mews has scored one goal and five assists. Mews has played in two games against the Rangers but has yet to record a point.

Goaltenders:

The 67's acquired Ian Michelone from Windsor at the trade deadline, he suited up in his first game for Ottawa in Owen Sound last night recording his first win for the club. Michelone's season record is 5-7-2-1 with a 4.50 goals-against average and 0.867 save percentage.

Veteran goaltender Collin Mackenzie has been relied on this season to backstop the 67's with a 9-5-1 record. His goals-against average is 2.94 and his save percentage is .909.
