Ottawa SkyHawks News Release
Ottawa Ontario - The Ottawa SkyHawks are announcing an exciting addition to the Training Camp Roster. Point Guard Jamal Crook has been added to the list of players competing for a spot on Ottawa's first basketball team.
Standing 6'3", Crook had an impressive NCAA D1 Career with the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers. His senior year was cut short due to injury, in spite of that he put up an impressive average of 12 points per game with a solid FG% of .478.
With a strong recruitment, a handful of outstanding guards have already been announced for training camp, adding Crook to the pool of talent gives the SkyHawks a very strong roster to fill the position.
"I'm very happy that we have come to terms with a player of this calibre," says Head Coach Kevin Keathley," Jamal was one of the most versatile point guards in the country last season at Western Kentucky University. Had it not been for a setback in the middle of his senior season I have no doubt he would have contended for player of the year honours in the Sun Belt. Jamal has speed in the open court, leadership & floor vision in the half-court game and he gives us a rebounding presence at his position. One of his strengths is his defensive length. Jamal will be able to guard multiple positions on and off the ball. He's a solid addition to our backcourt."
Crook had many highlights in his junior year, he torched the nets for 20 points, including 10 alone in a key three-minute stretch in the second half, on 9-of-13 shooting against Murray State. Jamal Crook became the first Hilltopper in almost two years to have five steals when he forced five turnovers at 4th-ranked Louisville on December 23.
The Ottawa SkyHawks training camp runs for two weeks beginning October 14th. The regular season tips off November 2, 2013 at the Canadian Tire Centre. Season tickets are now available http://www.ottawaskyhawks.com/tickets- Individual game and flex packages will be released October 2nd.
