Saint John Riptide News Release
(Saint John, NB): The Saint John Mill Rats are continuing to build a championship-calibre roster, and are excited to announce the addition of an NBL Canada All Star veteran in 6'5 forward Tyrone Levett.
Levett was drafted #3 overall by the London Lightning in the inaugural 2011 NBL Canada Draft. He was subsequently traded mid-season to the Halifax Rainmen where he led them to the fifth and deciding game of the NBL Canada Finals. Following the season he was nominated to the league's All Star game after averaging 14.8 points and 6.8 rebounds per game.
In 2012 Levett was traded to the Moncton Miracles prior to the start of the season, and then re-joined the Rainmen mid season. While in Moncton, Levett averaged 17.0 points and 5.5 rebounds per game as was named the Recharge With Milk NBLC Player of the Week on November 5th.
"Tyrone is tough as nails veteran who brings his lunch pail to work and plays hard every minute he is out there," explained Mill Rats Head Coach Rob Spon. "He is the kind of player you want on your roster in crunch time because he's been through the wars and prevailed."
Levett played his college ball at Alabama State ('02) where he averaged highs of 15.8 points, 9.6 rebounds, and 1.6 assists per game. He has played professionally in Vermont, Austria, Ireland, Portugal, Sweden, and Japan.
