May 7, 2008 - Canadian American League (Can-Am)
Ottawa Voyageurs News Release

The Ottawa Rapidz of the CAN-AM League are pleased to announce the signing of a new player to their organization. With the addition of Juan Carlos Infante, the Rapidz roster is almost full, with only three days left before Spring Training opens.

Juan Carlos Infante, provides the Rapidz with a skilled and experienced, switch-hitting infielder. The 27-year-old right-hander is a former prospect in the MONTREAL EXPOS organization, playing for the Expos Gulf Coast League affiliate from 1999-2000. With the Expos, the 6'0", 185-pound Venezuelan posted a batting average of .255 and boasted an on-base percentage of .352. The versatile infielder will add depth to the Rapidz roster, with experience at third and short as well as second base. With eight years in professional baseball, Infante has excelled in the Winter League in Colombia, played with independent teams in both New Jersey and Fort Worth and last played with the Mexicali Azules of the North Sonora League in 2007.

"Juan should add a lot to our offence. He's played third, short, second and the outfield in Professional baseball and played them all well" says Ed Nottle, Ottawa Rapidz Field Manager. "He's an important sign for this club."

We invite fans to the stadium to see Infante, as well as other Ottawa Rapidz players, during Spring Training from May 10th to May 20th. Spring Training will begin at 10am.

Tryouts for those with college or professional experience will be held on May 8th at Ottawa Rapidz Stadium.
