The Ottawa BlackJacks of the Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL) announced Tuesday that Canadian forward Jermaine Haley has signed with the Club for the 2022 CEBL season.

A six-foot-seven forward from Vancouver, BC, Haley is averaging 8.8 points, 3.7 rebounds, 2.4 assists, 1.2 steals and 24.7 minutes in 27 games as a pro in the NBA G-League, in Canada, and in Germany.

Haley was selected in the third round of the 2021 NBA G League Draft by the Capital City Go-Go, a Washington Wizards affiliate. After being claimed from the player pool by the Grand Rapids Gold (Denver Nuggets), Haley played seven games with the team, averaging 3.6 points, 4.4 rebounds and 2.0 assists. He recorded season highs of nine rebounds and six assists on January 17 against Delaware and scored a season-high 11 points, hitting three triples, to go along with four rebounds and four assists on January 7 against Westchester.

The University of West Virginia alumnus is currently completing his season with the London Lightning, where he scored a career-high 37 points on April 14 against Sudbury.

During his first professional campaign in 2020, Haley moved to Germany to join the HARKO Merlins in the Basketball Bundesliga, the top-tier men's professional basketball league in the country.

Collegiately, Haley averaged 7.5 points, 3.8 rebounds, 2.9 assists and 1.0 steals in 130 games in the NCAA Division I and in the NJCAA, including two years with West Virginia University, one year with Odessa College and one year with New Mexico State University. In 2018-19, during his first year with West Virginia, he recorded 12 games in double figures, including nine of the last 10 contests and led the team with 37 steals.

Haley is the tenth player announced to have signed with Ottawa for the 2022 season. Last week, the BlackJacks announced the re-signing of forward Ryan Wright in addition to their two 2022 CEBL U SPORTS Draft picks, including Nervens Demosthene of the University of Saskatchewan Huskies (fifth overall) and Guillaume Pépin of the University of Ottawa Gee-Gees (16th overall).

QUOTES:

"Jermaine Haley has grown immensely since his college days at West Virginia. His versatility on the defensive end is something we see really impacting this league. He has developed into a consistent three-point threat and a natural facilitator from the wing position. We had great feedback on his production with our Senior Men's National Team as he participated in the training camp leading up to the World Cup qualifiers."

- Jevohn Shepherd, General Manager and Vice-President, Basketball Operations, Ottawa BlackJacks Basketball Club

"I am super excited to make my CEBL season debut and I can't wait to help bring a championship to Ottawa."
