Ottawa 67's News Release
Last night's game was a tough one for the scoreboard as it resulted in a 4-1 victory for the Mississauga St. Michael's Majors. Both teams came out fighting amidst the nose of the crowd which left most of the first period scoreless until the Majors scored with 1:03 left in the first.
During the first intermission the crowd participated in a hilarious mass game of rock-paper-scissors which kept the fans entertained and by the start of the second period we were all ready for more hockey action. The game continued in the second with more great shots on both nets as well as great saves by both goalies. Corey Cowick scored the 67's only goal of the night, evening out the score. This wouldn't last long though as the Majors came firing back just three minutes later.
After a well fought second period, the fans were due for something silly. During the second intermission we had three young fans join us on the ice for some slingshot fun. Our brave volunteers were put atop an inflated inner tube and literally shot across the ice in a giant sling shot. The looks on their faces was priceless!
Despite a tough game on the scoreboard, it was a fun day in the stands. Join us again tonight, Friday April 2nd for game 2 of the series against the Mississauga/St. Michael's Majors where we will be looking for a win before we hit the road to Mississauga.
Keep an eye out for us as we'll be writing to you, as always, from "In the Stands!"
