IDAHO FALLS, ID - The Missoula Osprey managed to score a run on a passed ball to snap a 8-8 tie and take a 9-8 win over the Idaho Falls Chukars on Monday at Melaleuca Field in front of 2,519 fans.

Fidel Pena appeared to have struck out for the second out of the top of the ninth, but catcher Edul Escobar could not keep the ball from heading to the backstop, allowing Pena to reach safely. Two wild pitches and a passed ball later, Pena scored the game-winner.

Missoula (17-11) maintained their two-game lead over Billings in the Pioneer League's North Division, with 10 games remaining in the first half of the season.

Stephen Cardullo collected four of Missoula's 11 hits, Pena added a single and double, while Eric Groff and Chris Ellison each homered for the Osprey. Ryan Court and Jon Griffin added a hit and a RBI each.

The Osprey let 6-2 and 8-6 leads get away as the Chukars managed to rally twice off of the Missoula bullpen. However, DJ Johnson (1-0) would strike out four of the six batters he faced to pick up the win on the mound.

The Osprey and Chukars will wrap up their four-game series on Tuesday at Melaleuca Field. Right-hander Conrad Flynn will get the start for the Osprey, while left-hander Brian Peacock gets the call for the Chukars.

The Osprey will return home for a seven-game homestand on Thursday, July 21. Tickets for the upcoming homestand and all remaining games this season are now on sale at the MSO Hub Box Office, located at 140 N. Higgins, by phone at (406) 543-3300 or online at MissoulaOsprey.com.
