MISSOULA, MONT - Just when you think you have seen everything there is to see in the game of baseball, the Missoula Osprey do what seemed unlikely, getting a 2-1, 10-inning win over the Helena Brewers when they walked off following an appeal play on an apparent game-tying home run.

Ty Linton hit a two-run home run in the top of the 10th inning to give the Osprey their only runs of the game, breaking a scoreless tie. With one out, Rudy Flores was hit by a pitch, and set the stage for Linton, who hit the roundtripper to deep left field to give Missoula (4-4) their first hit since the sixth inning.

Raul Mondesi, Jr. hit the blast that appeared to tie the game in the bottom of the 10th, but missed home plate. Missoula catcher Michael Perez noticed the miss, and called for an appeal play. Pitcher Dexter Price (1-0) then stood on the mound and threw the ball to Perez, who stepped on home plate. The appeal to the home plate umpire was successful, with Mondesi getting credit for an RBI triple but retired at the plate to end the game.

That was all set up by nine innings of scoreless baseball by both pitching staffs, both of which put together a tremendous effort. Andrew Barbosa started for the Osprey, and took a no-hitter into the fifth. The left-hander pitched six innings, allowing just a hit and a walk while striking out five batters. Michael Rivera pitched the next two innings, scattering a hit and a walk while fanning four batters. Price scattered three hits and a walk in his two innings of work, and collected a strikeout.

Pedro Ruiz had the other two Osprey hits on the night, a pair of singles. The Helena pitching staff combined for three hit batters and 10 strikeouts.

The Osprey and Brewers will complete the Helena portion of their five-game set on Tuesday at Kindrick Legion Field. The Osprey will send right-hander Karl Triana to the mound, while the Brewers will counter with right-hander Leonard Lorenzo.

The Osprey will return home to host the Brewers on Wednesday, June 27, which begins a seven-game homestand. Tickets are available now at the MSO Hub Box Office, located at 140 North Higgins in Downtown Missoula, online at MissoulaOsprey.com and by phone (406) 543-3300.
