Osprey Defeat Voyagers Friday to Wrap up Three-Game Series

MISSOULA, MONT - The Missoula Osprey (12-10) move into a three-way tie for first place in the North Division after a 6-5 victory over the Great Falls Voyagers (12-10) at Centene Stadium Friday.

Missoula struck first in the top of the second when Cesar Garcia doubled to begin the inning. With one man out, starting pitcher Chris Comito (1-3) of Great Falls committed an error on a pickoff attempt to give the Osprey a 1-0 lead.

Great Falls quickly countered in the inning with a run of its own on a Romy Gonzalez RBI single to score Amado Nunez, who doubled to start the inning.

Two innings later, the Osprey pulled ahead when Eddie Hernandez and Buddy Kennedy led off with consecutive singles. Nick Dalesandro grounded into a fielder's choice to score Hernandez and give the Osprey a 2-1 lead.

With one out in the bottom of the four, Nunez walked and came in to score on a Ramon Beltre RBI single. Jhoandro Alfaro doubled to score Beltre to give Great Falls a 3-2 lead.

It did not take Missoula long to jump back in front as the Osprey scored four runs in the top of the sixth. Jesus Marriaga and Hernandez led off with consecutive singles while Kennedy drove in a run with a double. Garcia, Alex King, and Brando Leyton each drove in a run to push the Osprey ahead 6-3.

Great Falls pulled within a run with a two-run bottom of the sixth as Beltre and Alfaro drove in runs with back- to-back singles. Missoula threated in the top of the eighth win two base hits, but Great Falls reliever Nick Johnson stranded two runners to keep the score 6-5 in favor of the Osprey.

Bryan Menendez entered in the bottom of the ninth for the Osprey, closing the door after allowing a leadoff double for his third save of the season. Wilfry Cruz (4-0) earned the win on the mound after tossing five innings and allowing three earned runs. Hernandez, Kennedy, and Garcia each finished with two hits on the night to lead the Osprey.

Missoula heads back to Ogren Park Allegiance Field Saturday for Timberjacks Saturday featuring Timberjacks Poster Night. The Selway Armory Pregame Show begins at 6:45 p.m. on 102.9 ESPN Missoula and the MiLB First Pitch App. First pitch is slated for 7:05 pm with the gates opening at 6:30 pm.
