MISSOULA, Mont. - For their third win in a row, the Osprey hung on for a one-run victory over Great Falls, this time by a 7-6 score. Carlos Hernandez picked up the win and the Missoula offense was rolling once more with thirteen hits as the O's took three out of four games with the Voyagers.
The Osprey (3-3, 20-24) saw Hernandez, whose record now sits at 3-3, work six innings and only allow two earned runs on six hits. Two of Missoula's three errors in the game owudl lead to three unearned runs. With five strikeouts and three walks, Hernandez ended a three-game losing streak on the hill.
Great Falls (2-4, 25-19) starter Dane Stone entered the game with the best ERA in the Pioneeer League at 2.08 but had his worst outing of the season. Stone (4-1) was blasted for ten hits, six runs, one walk, and three strikeouts in his first loss of the summer.
Missoula opened its scoring with a Stewart Ijames three-run homer to leftfield in the second inning for his third home run in the past two games. The right fielder would add another hit and finish 2-3 with 3 RBI. Missoula scored three more runs in the fourth inning with four hits in the inning, including RBI singles from Tyler Humphreys and Justin Williams, the latter pushing his club-record hitting streak to 26 games.
Trevor Mitsui also extending his hitting mark to 15 games in a row with a third inning double and Maik Ehmcke had three singles on the night.
Jency Solis allowed one hit in two shutout innings of relief to follow Hernandez.
Brody Greer gave up a run off one hit and two walks but received a crucial strikeout of Mason Robbins to end the game. With runners on second and third base, Robbins chased a pitch in the dirt for Greer's seventh save.
