
O's Sign Joey Gathright To Minor League Contract

The Orioles today announced they have signed OF JOEY GATHRIGHT to a minor league contract and invited him to major league spring training camp.
Gathright, 28, batted .329 (106-322) with 24 stolen bases in 80 games for Triple-A Norfolk in 2009 in between a pair of stints in the major leagues. Gathright began the 2009 season with the Chicago Cubs (20 games) and appeared in 17 games with the Boston Red Sox after his 80 games with the Tides.
He signed a minor league contract with the Toronto Blue Jays for 2010 and was invited to their major league spring training camp before being released March 28.
In 445 major league games with Tampa Bay, Kansas City, Chicago and Boston, Gathright has batted .263 (309-1175) with 80 stolen bases.
