Orlando Predators Sign Quarterback Dan Whalen

Orlando, FL - The Orlando Predators have signed former Cleveland Gladiators quarterback Dan Whalen.

Whalen was signed to the AFL's Cleveland Gladiators on Feb. 2, 2011. He appeared in six games for the Gladiators in the 2011 season, leading two come from behind wins and scoring nine total touchdowns before being released from the Gladiators in June 2011.

Whalen played college football at Case Western Reserve University. The 6'0, 200lb quarterback was a four-year starter at Case throwing for 9,720 yards and 87 touchdowns. Whalen had 742 completions from 1,229 attempts. Dan graduated in 2009 as the school's all-time leader in pass attempts, completions, yards and touchdown passes. While the starting quarterback at Case, he led the team to 31 consecutive regular-season wins, three straight perfect regular seasons, three straight UAA titles, and three straight NCAA postseasons. Whalen was a candidate for several division three awards in his college career. He was named a first team All-American his senior season by the American Football Coaches Association and d3football.com. He was also a two-time finalist for the Gagliardi Trophy and named University Athletic Association's Offensive Player of the Year three times.

Orlando's Arena Football League franchise since 1991, the Orlando Predators are entering their 21st year in the AFL. In that time, the Predators have advanced to the AFL Playoffs a league-leading 19 consecutive seasons and appeared in the Arena Bowl seven times, winning AFL Championships in 1998 and 2000.
