Orlando City SC News Release
ORLANDO - March 12, 2015 - Orlando City Soccer Club (0-0-1, 1 point) will feature in its first Major League Soccer (MLS) road match on Friday, March 13, when the Lions take on the Houston Dynamo (1-0-0, 3 points) at BBVA Compass Stadium. Kick-off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. ET.
The contest between Orlando and the Dynamo will be broadcast live on UniMas and Univision Deportes. To watch the match in English, find out more information on MLS' SAP function by clicking here.
"We know that Houston are a very tough team at home," said Orlando City Head Coach Adrian Heath. "I think over the last four years, their record at home has been as good as anybody else in MLS. I don't think they'll change much in their shape, but we'll try to plan for every scenario."
Orlando enters the game against the Dynamo after opening its MLS debut with a 1-1 draw against New York City FC (NYCFC) before 65,210 fans at the Orlando Citrus Bowl. In the opening fixture, NYCFC moved ahead first when midfielder Mix Diskerud scored a curling effort past goalkeeper Donovan Ricketts.
However, City's playmaker Kaká salvaged a point for the Lions - scoring a free-kick from 25 yards away. For Orlando's upcoming match against Houston, City will be without veteran center-back Aurélien Collin who was suspended for one game after receiving a red card in the 83rd minute of play against New York.
The Houston Dynamo are one of only six teams in MLS to secure all three points during opening weekend. Currently sitting in fourth place in the Western Conference, the Dynamo produced a 1-0 victory over Columbus Crew SC last weekend. Giles Barnes provided the lone goal of the match, scoring in the 66th minute from Kofi Sarkodie's ball in the box.
The Lions and Houston met previously during preseason in the 12th edition of the Carolina Challenge Cup. In a game that saw both Aurélien Collin and Carlos Rivas receive red cards, Orlando suffered a 3-0 to the Texas-based club as they went on to claim the Carolina Challenge Cup title.
The Lions will return to the Orlando Citrus Bowl on Saturday, March 21, for its match against the Vancouver Whitecaps. Kick-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET.Â
