Waterloo Black Hawks News Release

Falling behind early in Ann Arbor Tuesday, the Waterloo Black Hawks bulled past Team USA in the second period and coasted to an 8-4 victory.

Both team enjoyed a pair of goals in the first frame with Team USA nudging in front for two short-lived leads. The home side scored the first goal at 9:29 when Anthony Louis banged in his own rebound, but 21 seconds later Jamie Hill swiped a puck at the Waterloo blue line and skated the length of the ice to put a shot between the pads of Hunter Miska. Team USA established a new lead at 16:06 when J.T. Compher fired a shot over the right shoulder of Eamon McAdam. Waterloo retied the score before intermission on a sharp-angled goal by Joe Rehkamp at 18:31.

The Hawks took their first lead just 1:28 into the second, eventually tripling their total by the end of the period. Ryan Papa recorded the first during the segment, followed at 4:42 by Michael Huntebrinker's first in the USHL. Team USA got one back with a power play blast by Scott Savage at7:33, but the Hawks would do some damage on the power play themselves as the period continued. James Hansen found the net at 13:29, followed on a subsequent advantage by Ian McCoshen at 15:34. Tyler Motte notched the final goal of the frame at 15:51. Needless to say, both teams had called on their reserve netminders before the second intermission .

Waterloo registered the only two goals in the third, both by Taylor Cammarata. The first came at 6:56 into an open side after a nifty passing play with linemates Papa and Mark Naclerio. Naclerio set up the second with a feed out of the right wing corner to the top of the crease at 11:46. The victory was the fourth in-a-row for the Hawks and the fourth consecutive game in which they have scored four or more goals.

The Hawks meet the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders Thursday. Limited seats still remain for the contest which begins at 7:05. Tickets can be purchased online at waterlooblackhawks.com or by calling (319) 291-7680.
