Orange County Buzz sign former LA Clipper

October 5, 2005 - American Basketball Association (ABA)
Maywood Buzz News Release

Orange County, CA. ABA Orange County Buzz GM/Head Coach Burrel Lee III has announced the signing of 7'3" Center Keith Closs. Closs, who last played in the NBA in '99 with the Los Angeles Clippers stated, "I am excited to be back in the city where I started my playing career. I made a few mistakes in the past, but Burrel and the Buzz overlooked all that and signed me to a contract and together with the other players, the Buzz have signed, I look forward to helping us compete for the ABA title."

"I have known Keith almost all of his basketball playing career and I am excited that he is here with us and the Buzz for the 2005-2006 season. My goal, just like with all the players that we signed this year, is to help Keith get to where he wants to be and that's one more shot at the NBA," said Lee.

Lee added, "I believe in Keith and if he works hard and averages anywhere near a double-double per night and maintains his blocks at about 6 per game; we can get him a look. Maybe we can even get him a 10-day contract and from there he will do the rest."

One of the greatest shot blockers ever to play the game, Closs combines a legit 7'3" with excellent physical coordination and shot blocking instincts. He has the mobility to change and alter shots in the paint. The thin, but durable (he's never had a major injury or operation), Closs is skilled, has good mobility and knows how to play the game. He broke the NCAA college record for shot blocking previously held by NBA great David Robinson. A lefty with an unselfish offensive game, Close can shoot the ball and also score with his back to the basket. He also passes the ball well.
