KENNEWICK, WA - The Tri-City Americans, along with partners KVEW-TV and Kadlec Medical Center, are proud to announce their involvement in Oprah's Big Give. In the spirit of the inspiring new reality series ‘Oprah's Big Give,' ABC will be handing over $1,000,000 to local ABC affiliates and challenging them to give big and give back to their communities.

KAPP/KVEW, who was awarded $10,000 as part of the promotion, has joined forces with Kadlec and the Americans, to support the Carson Kolzig Foundation. The Carson Kolzig Foundation aspires to educate and equip the Tri-Cities community and surrounding regions with the state of the art resources and training it needs to support kids and families with autism. The Carson Kolzig Foundation was founded by former Americans player and current NHL star Olaf Kolzig and his wife, Christin.

"Kadlec is proud to support this exciting project to benefit the Carson Kolzig Foundation," said Jim Hall, Directory of Community Relations for Kadlec Medical Center. "We've worked closely with them on projects such as the annual Autism Conference, and we want to continue to do what we can do to help further their mission of assisting autistic children and their families."

With the Americans' help, KAPP/KVEW has a goal of tripling Oprah's donation. Starting with their final home game of the regular season this Saturday and throughout the 2008 WHL Playoffs, the Americans will be hosting various programs, including two-dollar Chuck-A-Pucks, their most popular on-ice promotion, to help raise funds. Centerplate, the concessions provider to the Toyota Center, is also offering autographed Americans' cups with a portion of sales going to the overall donation.

"It's heartwarming to see so many people and so many organizations come together for such a worthy cause," explained Brian Sandy, Sr. Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer for the Tri-City Americans. "I think it's a fantastic idea what (Oprah) is doing with her money and the Americans are thrilled to be a part of it. The (Carson Kolzig) Foundation is a very worthy cause."
