
Hickey Named First Team Western Conference All-Star

Seattle - Seattle Thunderbirds defenseman Thomas Hickey was named a Western Conference First Team All-Star today.
Hickey, from Calgary, Alberta, is in his third season with the T-Birds and had 11 goals and 34 assists for 45 points this season. He was selected by the Los Angeles Kings with the fourth overall pick in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft.
"Thomas has developed into a dominant defenseman in our league and we are happy to see this recognized with his selection to the First All Star team in our conference," said T-Birds General Manager Russ Farwell. In his three seasons with the T-Birds, Thomas has played in 205 games and has 23 goals and 103 assists.
Hickey was a member of Team Canada that won a gold medal at the 2008 World Junior Championships in the Czech Republic.
The T-Birds are currently preparing for their first round playoff series against the Kelowna Rockets which starts on Friday, March 21, at 7:35 p.m. at KeyArena.
The T-Birds finished fourth in the Western Conference with a 42-23-5-2 record. The Rockets finished fifth in the Western Conference with a 38-26-2-6 record.
The T-Birds have home-ice advantage in the first round best-of-seven series.
