North Adams SteepleCats News Release
Believe it or not fans, the 2013 season will be the SteepleCats' 12th in franchise history. Doesn't it seem like just yesterday the likes of Mike Ekstrom and such were gracing The Joe back in 2002? More than a decade later, a fresh new crop of 'Cats will be arriving in town over the weekend with sights set on the franchise's first-ever Faye Vincent Cup this season!
The action starts next Thursday, June 6, against Western Division rival Vermont at 6:35 p.m. right here at Joe Wolfe Field. The first 250 fans in attendance will receive complimentary SteepleCat Schedule Magnets, so don't wait before it's too late!
And finally fans, be sure to stick around afterward for our annual Opening Night Fireworks Spectacular. Generous businesses from across our community have donated their resources to fund the event, and we here at the SteepleCats are always proud to boast the finest firework displays in the league, so don't forget: stick around after the last out next Thursday and enjoy our Opening Night Firework Spectacular!
Former UMass star looks to take next step in 2013
While many of the faces that made up the 2012 SteepleCats have moved on, one familiar face will be the one on the bench, as Bryan Adamski returns for a second summer in the Berkshires.
Last year, Adamski helped the SteepleCats match their best four-game start in franchise history en route to a 13-win June that saw the team on top or near the top of the Western Division. Despite a slower second half that saw the team settle for third place and an eventual first-round exit in the NECBL postseason, Adamski still managed to help the team post a nine-win improvement from the previous year, as North Adams finished the regular season 22-20 while shattering most of the team's single-season records in several offensive categories.
"It was an easy decision to return for a second year with the SteepleCats," Adamski noted. "North Adams continues to be an organization that operates with sound leadership and volunteers that care deeply about the team and its impact on the city of North Adams."

SOLOMAN REPRESENTS LONE RETURNER FROM 2012
Eastern Kentucky slugger drove in 23 runs for the 'Cats in 2012
One year after helping North Adams return to the postseason, junior third baseman and Eastern Kentucky slugger Bryan Soloman will return to the Berkshires for a second stint with the SteepleCats in 2013.
Soloman came to the Berkshires representing a potential power threat after leading Eastern Kentucky in home runs as a freshman and sophomore. The 2011 Ohio Valley Conference Rookie of the Year, Soloman took time to adjust to the wooden bat last summer but came alive in the second half, raising his average to .231 on 28 hits while ranking third on the team with 18 RBI.
"I am extremely excited to come back and play for the SteepleCats again this summer," Soloman noted prior to his return to the Berkshires. "I am very grateful that the coaches wanted me back and I am looking forward to having another great summer in North Adams."
