Valley Blue Sox News Release
Holyoke, MA - A new chapter for the Blue Sox began on Wednesday as Clark Eckhoff was officially introduced as the new team president.
Running a baseball organization is nothing new to Eckhoff, considering he has done it in the past and has found success.
In 1998, Eckhoff purchased the Wisconsin Woodchucks and saw the team's attendance grow by over 400 percent during his ownership.
In 2001 and 2003, Eckhoff oversaw and helped put together two Northwoods League Championship teams.
In his time with the Woodchucks, Eckhoff has had more than 14 players make it to the Major Leagues including Tampa Bay All-Star Ben Zobrist and Toronto Blue Jay pitcher Casey Janssen.
Along with the players that have made it to the show, during Eckhoff's tenure the Woodchucks had more than 120 players taken in the MLB Draft.
Baseball has not been the only thing Eckhoff has been involved in as he has played a big role in his community.
Eckhoff has served on the board of the Boys and Girls Club, Wisconsin State Telephone Association, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Mendota Gridiron Club for University of Wisconsin and Sports Authority of Central Wisconsin.
Eckhoff earned an undergraduate degree in business from the University of Wisconsin-Steven Point and masters in business administration from the University of Wisconsin.
Eckhoff has three daughters, Kelley (21), Ashley (19) and Ella (5).
Remember the Blue Sox start their 2013 season on Tuesday, June 4, against the Utica Brewers at MacKenzie Stadium with first pitch set for 6:35 p.m. Tickets can be bought at the gate for $6 for general admission and $4 for children 6 to 12 years old and senior citizens while children 5 and younger are free.
