June 6, 2012 - Futures Collegiate Baseball League (FCBL)
Old Orchard Beach News Release
The Futures Collegiate Baseball League has introduced five new teams to the league, and the Wachusett Dirt Dawgs is one that is playing in your backyard this summer. The Dirt Dawgs are playing their 28 home games at the newly renovated Doyle Field. John Morrison owns the Dirt Dawgs and is also the co-founder and principal owner of Fosta-Tek Optics located in Leominster, MA. Morrison is looking forward to the inaugural season for the Dirt Dawgs.
Head of Baseball Operations, Scott Lettre, graduate of Franklin Pierce, is very excited for the upcoming season, and has been working hard to prepare for opening day. "I know what a strong baseball community exists in this area, and I look forward to the opportunity to put a fun and family friendly experience in front of our home fans!" Lettre has had experience with the Lowell Spinners as well as the Keene Swamp Bats and will be using these valuable learning experiences towards improving fan enjoyment at every home game.
The Dirt Dawgs team consists of college baseball players with a year left of eligibility that are looking to continue playing during the summer months. Many players are from surrounding towns, but some come from as far as New York and New Jersey. These players are living with hospitable host families during the baseball season.
Opening Day at Doyle field for the Dirt Dawgs is on Friday June 8th against the Pittsfield Suns. The Dirt Dawgs are managed by Michael Green with assistant coach, Chris Logan, and pitching coach, Nick Barese, as his supporting coaching staff.
We hope you join us Friday night to show your support for the new local team as they open their inaugural season at the historic Doyle Field in Leominster, MA.
